Exploring the Underwater Wonders of Roatan Honduras: A Review of Royal Caribbean's Three Snorkel Sights Excursion

Roatan Honduras Three Stop Snorkeling: Shipwreck, Starfish and Blue Channel

If you’re planning a Caribbean cruise and have a stop in Roatan, Honduras, be sure to add the Royal Caribbean’s Three Snorkel Sights excursion to your itinerary if you enjoy snorkeling. This excursion takes you to three of the island’s most breathtaking snorkeling spots, offering a chance to explore the vibrant coral reefs and see a variety of colorful fish and other marine life. The reef is the second largest in the world, so you really shouldn’t miss this opportunity.

In Roatan, the locals are trying to protect their reefs. You will need to pack reef safe suntan lotion or use a rash guard. They do not allow normal suntan lotion because it poisons the reef. We knew this ahead of time and ordered reef safe suntan lotion from amazon.

The excursion provides all the equipment you need. My husband and I bring our own. It fits better and we don’t have to worry if the equipment is getting sanitized properly. We are fine using their fins and life vests, but we bring our own snorkel and masks.

Our adventure began with a short boat ride to our first stop, a spot known for its abundance of tropical fish and vibrant coral. As soon as we hit the water, schools of brightly colored fish greeted us swimming around everyone. It was truly a sight to behold! We snorkeled in crystal clear water, and the coral was in great condition, making for some great video. You need to be careful not to hit the coral formations with your fins because the water is shallow. The tour guides will warn you of this before getting in. The boat we were on did not have an easy way into the water, so you have to drop in off the side, which made me a little nervous.

Our second stop was a spot known for its star fish. As soon as we got in the water, we saw several star fish resting on the bottom. It was amazing to swim so close to these creatures in their natural habitat. We also saw a variety of other marine life!

Our last stop was a shipwreck. The shipwreck was interesting to see while snorkeling, and it was cool to see how the coral and other marine life have made the shipwreck their home. The shipwreck was also a magnificent spot to see a variety of fish, including some larger ones that we hadn’t seen at the other stops.

After the snorkel, you return to a small beach that has food and a bar. There are also lounge chairs, giant grass umbrellas that are free to use, and restrooms. The beach area is small and closed in by fencing, but you can swim there. You may even snorkel. We did not get in because we were drying for the return home.

Overall, Royal Caribbean’s Three Snorkel Sights excursion was an amazing experience. The sights were breathtaking, and the guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The excursion was organized, and the equipment provided was in great condition. My only gripe would be we needed more time. We felt rushed while snorkeling, trying to keep up with the guide who never stopped. We would have liked to swim around and explore each area longer.

If you’re ever in Roatan, Honduras and have the chance to go snorkeling, I highly recommend giving this excursion a try. You won’t be disappointed.
