Using the Holiday Inn as a Control Location for Paranormal Investigations
Using the Holiday Inn as a Control Location for Paranormal Investigations
Hey there, spooky cats!
We recently embarked on an exciting new experiment to test our paranormal investigation equipment in a non-haunted location. As you all know, it's crucial to have a control environment to compare our findings against those from haunted sites. For this experiment, we chose the Holiday Inn in Mechanicsville, VA. Spoiler alert: it’s not haunted!
Why the Holiday Inn, you ask? Well, it’s your typical hotel—clean, comfortable, and completely devoid of ghostly activity. At least, that’s what we hoped! We needed a place where we could see how our equipment would function without the interference of spirits.
Here’s the rundown of the gear we brought along:
- Rem Pods: These nifty devices, which we built ourselves, detect changes in the surrounding electromagnetic field.
- Spirit Talker Phone App: This app is designed to pick up words or phrases that spirits might be trying to communicate.
- Ghost Tube Phone App: Another great app for detecting and interpreting paranormal activity.
- Voice Recorder: A classic tool for capturing EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena) and any unexplained sounds.
We set up our equipment in one of the rooms and began our investigation. It was strange to be in such a normal setting without any of the usual eerie vibes, but it was exactly what we needed.
Here’s What We Did:
Rem Pods: We placed the rem pods around the room and watched them closely. Normally, in haunted locations, these babies light up like crazy when spirits come close. At the Holiday Inn, however, the plastic cat shaped rem pod went off a lot and the wooden one, as usual, did not go off at all. So we are not sure what to think at this time. As a non haunted location, shouldn't the rem pods not go off at all?
Spirit Talker and Ghost Tube Apps: We turned on both apps and waited for any words or phrases. In haunted locations, these apps often pick up eerie, sometimes relevant messages. Here? They still went off randomly the same way they would in a haunted location. We also did not receive any direct answers to our questions.
Voice Recorder: We asked the voice recorder questions and reviewed it like normal. In haunted spots, we rarely capture mysterious voices or unexplained sounds. This time, the playback was as quiet as a mouse. No ghostly whispers, no strange noises—just the occasional hum of the air conditioner.
Why This Matters
Using a control location like the Holiday Inn is super important for our investigations. It helps us understand how our equipment works under normal conditions, so when we do get readings in haunted places, we can be more confident that they’re genuinely paranormal.
This experiment showed us that our gear works the same in a non-haunted environment as in a haunted environment. The cat rem pod lit up, the apps still spit out ghostly messages, and the voice recorder didn’t capture any spooky sounds. It was exactly what we needed to confirm that we need to test our equipment more.
So, while the Holiday Inn in Mechanicsville, VA, may not offer any ghostly thrills, it provided invaluable data for our investigations. Now, when we head to truly haunted locations, we’ll know our equipment may not be as trustworthy as we hoped.
What’s Next?
With our control test at the Holiday Inn behind us, we're more prepared than ever to dive into our next haunted location. We will also more test control locations and work out statistics to see if they are higher in the haunted locations.
Lessons Learned
This experiment helped us fine-tune our investigative methods. We learned how to set up our equipment more efficiently and ensured that our data collection is as accurate as possible.
Moving Forward
Armed with this newfound confidence, our next step is to revisit some of the haunted locations we've investigated before, like the George Washington Hotel. With our control data from the Holiday Inn, we can re-examine our findings with a more critical eye and possibly uncover new insights.
We’re also planning to explore some new haunted sites that have been on our radar. Each investigation will be approached with the same scientific rigor, using our control data to distinguish between genuine paranormal activity and everyday occurrences.
Call to Action
For all my fellow spooky cats out there, I encourage you to conduct your own control experiments. Whether you’re a seasoned investigator or just starting, having a non-haunted location to test your equipment is invaluable. It might not be as thrilling as a haunted house, but it’s an essential step in validating your findings.
If you have any suggestions for our next haunted location, drop a comment below or send me a message. I’m always on the lookout for new places to explore and new mysteries to uncover. Final Thoughts
Conducting a control investigation at a place like the Holiday Inn was a fantastic learning experience. It reminded us that in the world of paranormal investigation, being thorough and methodical is key. Sometimes, the quietest places can teach us the most valuable lessons.
Behind the Scenes
For those interested in the nitty-gritty details, here’s a bit of behind-the-scenes insight into our Holiday Inn adventure:
Preparation: We carefully selected a room that was away from the main thoroughfares of the hotel to minimize any potential interference from other guests. We also informed the hotel staff about our experiment to ensure there would be no unexpected disturbances.
Set-Up: Setting up the equipment in a hotel room was a bit different from the usual eerie, abandoned places we investigate. The controlled environment made it easier to organize our gear and ensure everything was functioning correctly.
Observation: Throughout the night, we took turns monitoring the equipment and recording any changes. Even though nothing paranormal occurred, it was important to stay vigilant and document everything meticulously.
Data Analysis: After the investigation, we spent several hours reviewing the recordings and app data. As expected, we found no evidence of ghosts.
A Word of Thanks
I want to take a moment to thank all my spooky cats for your ongoing support and enthusiasm. Your comments, suggestions, and encouragement mean the world to me and keep me motivated to continue exploring the unknown. Special thanks to those who suggested the idea of conducting a control experiment – your input was invaluable!
